ODILO brings education on alcohol and drug use prevention to all citizens of Chile

Categories:

  • In 2025, the platform offered more than 2,180 hours of learning, and over 2,500 resources related to alcohol and drug use prevention were consumed.
  • ODILO offers a scalable and accessible digital solution, with features such as offline reading and the creation of learning communities and book clubs.

Madrid, February XX, 2026.- Access to reliable and specialized information is one of the main tools for preventing the consumption of alcohol and other drugs. With this objective, Chile’s National Service for the Prevention and Rehabilitation of Drug and Alcohol Consumption (SENDA Academy), the public body responsible for designing and executing prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation policies in this area, has launched the Bibliodrogas Digital Library, a free-access platform developed and managed by the Spanish edtech ODILO.

Since the beginning of the project, users have dedicated more than 4,000 hours to learning and, in 2025, they consumed more than 2,500 resources. The digital library features thematic carousels such as addictions and psychotherapy, stigma and health, and gender and mental health. Furthermore, the platform allows for the incorporation of its own content. This success model can inspire and be replicated by other communities, demonstrating that it is possible to unite public policies, technology, and quality content.

Initiatives like this highlight the key role that prevention plays in protecting the health and well-being of everyone in society, as it allows for the anticipation of risks and the reduction of the negative impacts of alcohol and other drug use before they occur. In this regard, ODILO has made it possible for specialized knowledge to reach any citizen simply and accessibly, regardless of their location or personal conditions.

Inclusive and accessible technology for all of society

The platform allows users to consult content from anywhere in the country and from any device (computer, mobile, or tablet), thanks to native applications and offline reading functionalities. Additionally, it incorporates accessibility modules, such as text-to-speech, which promotes inclusion.

It offers a specialized catalog of e-books and community engagement tools that allow for the creation of book clubs, forums, debates, and digital campaigns. All of this is supported by loan management systems, user validation, and real-time statistical report generation, which facilitate data-driven decision-making.

The project holds a Certificate of Good Execution of Services Provided in Chile, which endorses the quality, continuity, and reliability of the technological solution deployed by ODILO for a national public service.

In Spain, the need for digital prevention tools is also becoming increasingly evident. According to data from the ESTUDES 2023 survey (published by the Ministry of Health), the consumption of substances such as tobacco and cannabis has reached historic lows among young people aged 14 to 18. Although alcohol remains the most widespread substance (consumed by 73.6% in the last year) , risky practices such as binge drinking—defined by the National Plan on Drugs and the ESTUDES survey as consuming 5 or more units of alcoholic beverages in an interval of approximately 2 hours—have also dropped to their lowest levels in two decades. In this context, ODILO’s solutions align with the National Strategy on Addictions to promote healthy leisure habits and preventive training from the school environment.

“This project demonstrates how educational technology can generate a real impact when strategically integrated into public policies,” highlights Ainhoa Marcos, VP of Education and Public Sector at ODILO. “The data confirms that digital access to knowledge is a key lever for large-scale prevention and training. Furthermore, the technology allows for the fulfillment of inclusive digitalization and cultural access objectives, aligned with the Spain Digital 2026 agenda”.

With this collaboration, ODILO reinforces its social commitment and its role as a strategic technological partner for public administrations in both Spain and Latin America, offering scalable, inclusive digital solutions oriented toward measurable results.
