ODILO expands staff and opens new offices after raising investment round

  • The Spanish scale-up now has more than 300 employees, has opened new offices, and has added hybrid and remote professionals to the team.
  • These moves are part of the expansion strategy that the company adopted after closing the largest financing round for an EdTech in Europe in 2022 valued at €60M.

Madrid, 02 March 2023.- ODILO, the Spanish scaleup that allows any organization to create its own Learning Ecosystem, offering its users unlimited access to the world’s largest catalog of multi-format educational content and the possibility of creating all kinds of learning experiences without restrictions, continues its growth with an increase in staff and the opening of new offices.

In June 2022, the company born in Cartagena closed the largest investment round for an EdTech company in the history of Spain (60 million euros). One of the main objectives after receiving this capital injection has been to accelerate the growth of its workforce in all areas, verticals, and countries where it is present; in particular, the company has placed special emphasis on strengthening its technology, data, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and educational content teams.

According to Rodrigo Rodriguez, CEO of ODILO, “This financing has an impact on the commercial scope and means that we have to modify our structure to be increasingly broad and specialized. We are in a change from generalists to specialists“, which translates into an “ambitious staff growth plan, which covers almost the entire company, from the product area, support, finance…”.

In the midst of a process of growth and capacity building, the company has significantly increased its workforce: there are now more than 300 employees, which has resulted in the need to open a second subsidiary in Madrid, located in Almagro Street. The workforce in Cartagena also reflects an increase, so the organization of hybrid working days and the hiring of remote profiles allows the physical capacity of the offices to be boosted. This flexibility, together with the values, professional prestige and other benefits for employees, make the scale-up one of the most attractive employment options for working in the Region of Murcia and at a national level.

“Fostering high-performance environments, speed and relevance in decision making, the learning mindset, ownership and results orientation are some of the characteristics that best define the company’s employees and, at the same time, attract the best talent to the company,” says Rodrigo Rodriguez, who also points out that “encouraging all people to become their best version by allowing any organization to provide unlimited learning in the most frictionless, efficient and valuable way is the great mission that drives us day by day”.

The company also announced that another objective is to grow in technology, for which reason it is investing heavily in new learning experiences, such as learning clubs, employee onboarding plans, virtual classes, reading plans, certified itineraries, career plans and alumni programs, among others, with no restrictions on formats, platforms or copyrights.

Behind this strong commitment to increase its catalog, which has more than 4 million contents (e-books, audiobooks, courses, magazines, educational applications, videos, educational titles, summaries, etc.) in 43 languages from 6,300 providers, is ODILO’s goal to increase the number of users who enjoy their own unlimited learning ecosystems. A community that already includes 170 million people from 52 countries around the world.
